Tickets for the Lausanne 2020 Opening Ceremony on sale starting November 21st

The Lausanne 2020 Organising Committee is pleased to announce that its online ticketing platform will open on November 21 at 11a.m. This platform will enable the public to purchase tickets to the Opening Ceremony held on January 9th, 2020 (7:30 p.m.) and to register – free of charge – to attend the Games’ indoor competitions.

From November 21st , you will be able to purchase tickets for the Lausanne 2020 Opening Ceremony, a highly anticipated celebration which will be the official start of the Games. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony will be available in several categories and at different prices:

« Home », the Opening Ceremony of Lausanne 2020

With the theme "Home", the Opening Ceremony of the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games will focus on seven artistic tableau and will feature all traditional and symbolic elements of the Olympic Games, including the lighting of the Olympic cauldron that will burn throughout the Games. This ceremony will also be the opportunity to welcome all participating nations during the traditional athletes’ parade. This will be the kick-off event of the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games and the starting point for 14 days filled with emotions.

Spectators with a ticket to the Opening Ceremony will receive a travelcard, which will entitle them to travel within all zones of the Mobilis network for three hours before and three hours after the ceremony. A specific ticket category and adapted seating will be reserved for the disabled.

Free access to all competitions – upon registration for indoor competitions

Additionally, though all Lausanne 2020 competitions will be free with open seating, access to indoor competitions will be possible exclusively upon (free) pre-registration. The ticketing platform will allow spectators to register for these competitions.

The Medal Plaza at the Flon in Lausanne – a place of celebration open to the public

During the Games, every evening at 7 p.m., the Flon District will be animated by the Medal Ceremonies during which the victorious athletes of the day will receive their Olympic medals. Flags will be hoisted, and national anthems will be played during these ceremonies organised respecting the Olympic tradition. These will be the moments for the teams and the public to celebrate the victory of the young athletes and to mark the Olympic experience in their memories forever. The Medal Ceremonies will be free and open to the public. Those for the sporting competitions in St. Moritz (bobsleigh, luge, skeleton and speed skating) will take place in St. Moritz, also at 7 p.m.

Lausanne 2020 Closing Ceremony – Flon District, free access

The Lausanne 2020 Closing Ceremony will take place on January 22 and will wrap up the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games. The athletes will be present and there will be a surprise in store for the public!

About Lausanne 2020

The Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games will take place from 9 to 22 January 2020 with 1,880 athletes (15-18 years old) from more than 70 countries. The competitions will take place in the cantons of Vaud (Lausanne, La Vallée de Joux, Leysin, les Diablerets, Villars), Valais (Champéry), Grisons (St. Moritz) and neighbouring France (Les Rousses, Les Tuffes stadium).
