IOC contributes to flood recovery efforts in Peru

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today announced a donation of USD 600,000 to support the immediate recovery efforts in Peru, following the devastating floods in large parts of the country.

In a letter to the President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, IOC President Thomas Bach expressed his sympathy for the Peruvian people at this difficult time. The letter was handed over personally to President Kuczynski today by the IOC Member in Peru, Iván Dibós.

"The Olympic Movement stands ready to help Peru rebuild as the country recovers from this natural disaster," wrote President Bach. "As a sign of this solidarity, the Olympic Movement has decided to contribute USD 600,000 to the immediate recovery efforts in Peru."

The contribution is being made jointly by the IOC, Olympic Solidarity and the Pan-American Sports Organisation (PASO) in close consultation with the IOC Member in Peru, Iván Dibós, and it will support the humanitarian relief efforts in the country.
