IOC and the Kuwaiti Government hold talks to resolve the situation of the Olympic Movement in Kuwait

Consultations with representatives of the Government of Kuwait, led by Humood Fleteh Alshammari, Director General of the Public Authority for Sports, were held today at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. The talks aimed at finding an amicable resolution for the situation of the Olympic Movement in Kuwait.

The IOC and the emissaries of the Kuwaiti Government today held discussions in Lausanne to find a favourable and mutually acceptable solution in the interest of the Olympic Movement in Kuwait.

“We are working in a close relationship and in the right direction,” said Pere Miró, IOC Deputy Director General. “The outcome of the meeting was very positive and forward-looking enough to consider a satisfactory solution if we continue in the same positive way,” he added.

“Both parties understood the exchanged points of view in a very positive atmosphere and reached an initial solution to resolve the situation of the Olympic Movement in Kuwait,” said Humood Fleteh Alshammari.

Discussions between the IOC and the Kuwaiti sports authorities will continue over the next few weeks, and the IOC will communicate in due course.
